Albemarle woman clings to life after New Year’s Day crash

Thursday, January 2, 2014 — A woman remains in critical condition after suffering life-threatening injuries in a New Year’s Day crash, according to Albemarle police.

Brenda Nance Davis, 47, of Albemarle was injured Wednesday when she drove her 2002 Mercedes into the path of James Bryan Price of Locust, Capt. Jesse Huneycutt said.

Davis was pulling out of Burleson Square onto N.C. 24/27 at 12:18 p.m. when she crossed into the westbound path of Price, 43. Price’s 2004 Ford Explorer collided into Davis’ driver’s side door, Huneycutt said.

Davis was taken to Stanly Regional Medical Center, then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, Huneycutt said.

Along with Price, passengers inside his vehicle include his wife and two children. No one in the family was hurt.

Police cited Davis for unsafe movement and a seat belt violation.
