Police search for man wanted on rape charge

Tuesday, March 25, 2014 — Rubisel Cruz Morales, 39, of Oakboro, formerly of Stanfield, faces charges of five counts of first-degree rape of a child, Oakboro Chief Joe Lowder said. The incidents occurred between June 2013 and February, Lowder said.

Police believe Morales has fled the area, possibly for Houston or his native Mexico, Lowder said.

The child reported the rape to her mother, who then called police Feb. 11, Lowder said.
