Falling Rivers Gallery will have its annual jewelry show Feb. 1-16.
This will be the fourth year they’ve had the show, and this year’s show is called “From the Heart.”
The gallery has at least 10 artists signed up to be on display during the jewelry show.
“This is going to be most fun show. It will run the gamut of silversmiths to people like me who do fun and funky,” said Bobbie Listerman, president of the Stanly Arts Guild.
Theresa Mauldin, a member of Stanly Arts Guild and the person responsible for advertising for workshops, spoke at length about the jewelry show.
“You name it and we got it,” Mauldin said.
Among those she named were copper, polymer clay, glass, beading and wire wrapping.
“This year we have extended it from jewelry show to jewelry and accessories. We’re going to have hand-made items. Scarves, that sort of thing. We have shirts and hand-painted purses.
“We’re really happy about this decision, too. Someone looking for a Valentine’s Day present, some people may not wear jewelry, so now we have something to offer them,” Mauldin said.
While their holiday show runs November to Christmas, Falling Rivers specifically has this show because of Valentine’s Day.
“Everything in the show has to be handmade by the artist. Now this is artisan-made and not homemade. These people are genuinely artists,” Mauldin said.
She also said there would be a fashion show at 1 p.m. Feb 2 in the gallery, featuring items for sale in the fashion show, with clothing provided by Hi-lites.
“We’ve had fashion shows before,” Mauldin said.
“The models will be artists from the gallery. We’ll have real people modeling. People gravitate towards that.”
Falling Rivers Art Gallery is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. , Thursday 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
