Vandals attack WSMS

Friday, February 24, 2012 — The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office is searching for suspects involved in the vandalism of West Stanly Middle School. The vandalism is believed to have occurred during the weekend, according to Principal Damon Rhodes.

Rhodes explains that an unknown number of suspects damaged property in the school parking lot, including an activity bus. The parking lot itself was vandalized, as was the side of the school building.“The maintenance department is estimating that about $2,000 in damages was done during the vandalism,” Rhodes said.

He believes the vandalism occurred Saturday, though it was discovered Monday while students were not at the school due to the President’s Day holiday.

The vandalism was reported to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, but no one has been arrested at this time.

Sheriff Rick Burris explained that the incident is under investigation, but no suspects have been identified at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (704) 986-3714.
