Tuesday, June 18, 2013 — Trash, bulk items and limb pick ups will proceed as normal for city of Albemarle residents according to Brett Burbeshaw, route manager for Waste Management.

“The pick up schedules are staying the same,” Burbeshaw said.

The devastation from last week’s storm is posing a challenge for Waste Management crews who aren’t equipped to pick up large diameter trees and branches.

“With the amount of destruction that was done it’s a big challenge for us and the city to handle. We’re looking for help from the state to get the volume picked up,” Burbeshaw said.

Waste Management is asking residents to limit the size of limbs to four to six feet in length. To ensure a faster pick up time, limbs are to be bundled and stacked uniformly, parallel to the curb.

“Most residents are aware of their pick up schedules and limit restrictions,” Burbeshaw said, adding that any questions regarding the pick up may be directed to the city of Albemarle.
