Albemarle man faces sex offense charges

Thursday, July 11, 2012 — An Albemarle man is facing more than 20 sex offense charges, according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Brunswick County sheriff detectives, along with the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Clyde Wesley Way, 68, of Kirk Avenue.

He is charged with 16 counts of first degree sex exploit of a minor, four counts of employing or permitting minor to assist in offenses against public morality and decency, and four counts of indecent liberties with a child.

According to Brunswick County, the incidents were reported to involve four juvenile males between the ages of 10 and 13 and occurred June 24-29 at the North Carolina Baptist Assembly at Fort Caswell.

Way is currently being detained in the Stanly County Jail under a $350,000 secured bond.
