Stanly man dead in apparent accident

Saturday, March 8, 2014 — A Stanly County man died early Saturday morning after what authorities are investigating as an accidental shooting.

William Hughes, 20, was pronounced dead at the hospital after being the victim of an apparent accidental shooting.

According to Oakboro police chief Joe Lowder, the incident occurred Friday at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The investigation is still pending, according to Lowder.
