Richfield, March Meeting

Monday, March 25, 2013 — Richfield met for their regular meeting on Monday night, discussing the lease renewal possibilities for the Nextel Tower and also providing an update on the VFW Memorial project.

The town attorney was present for the meeting, and after introducing himself, Charles Brown informed the town of what he’d discovered in regards to the Nextel Tower contract.

The current contract with Nextel does not expire until August of 2025. Nextel proposed a further 25 year contract, with a 5 percent increase in the monthly lease payments every five years.

“I negotiated with Nextel and got them to agree to a $14,000 sign-up bonus,” explained Brown. Nextel had originally only offered $10,000.

    So whodunit?
Forget Col. Mustard, the library and the candlestick, this time it was the drama student in the Jesse F. Niven Center with the bottle of poison.
At this year’s Uwharrie Players Drama Camp, campers took the stage not just to act, but to figure out who poisoned Gladdis, the talent scout.
