Albemarle Police release name of homicide victim

Police release photos late Friday

Friday, November 1, 2013 — Albemarle Police Department has released more information on the alleged armed robbery and homicide Thursday afternoon.

Albemarle Police Capt. David Dulin on Friday morning identified the victim as Eldridge Roger Gibson, 81, of Albemarle, owner of B & G Coins at the corner of West Main Street and N.C. 73.

“Someone entered the business, committed an armed robbery and somewhere in the process shot our victim, who later died at the hospital,” Dulin said.

The incident is believed to have happened around 4:30 to 5 p.m., Dulin said. with the suspect entering the business from the back.

The suspect stole Gibson’s white 2010 Ford F-150, which has chrome wheels. The vehicle’s tag is ZRT-3645.

“It’s hard to tell what type person this was,” Dulin said.

Officers estimate the suspect to be between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches tall and around 150 pounds.

“We’re actively seeking leads right now, so any additional information anyone has would be great,” Dulin said.

The police released two additional photos that may provide useful in the search for a suspect, police said.
