Concord man drowns after jumping from train trestle

Monday, September 9, 2013 — A 19-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after jumping from a train trestle at Old Whitney Road at Tuckertown.

The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office reports that Craig Vanderhall, of Concord, was in the area with some friends when the incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m.

“He jumped off the trestle and got into trouble and could not make it back to shore,” Sheriff Rick Burris said.
