69-year-old dies in accident minutes from home

Friday, August 23, 2013 — A Stanly County resident passed away following an accident Thursday just minutes from her residence.

Charlene Graffa Morgan, 69, of 44427 Paul’s Crossing Road, died after a three-vehicle collision on N.C. 49 about one-mile south of Richfield, near Paul’s Crossing, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

A 2007 Honda Odyssey van, operated by Jenny Mah of 2905 Bellingham Dr., Concord, struck a 2007 Honda Accord in the rear, driven by Johnnie Caudle, a caregiver of Morgan.

The vehicles were headed north on N.C. 49. Upon the collision, Caudle’s vehicle was pushed left of center and into a 2003 Acura SUV, driven by Haley Bullard of 937 Iron Mountain Road, Asheboro, a Highway Patrol report indicates.

While May was not injured, both Bullard and Caudle were transported to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.

A full condition report and any possible charges are not known at this time.

The cooperative spirit! It makes so much sense!
