Tie-breaker vote needed at Board of Education meeting

Tuesday, May 7, 2013 — Chairman Melvin Poole of the Stanly County Board of Education was required to cast his vote to break a tie at Tuesday’s regular board meeting.

The vote was on whether or not to reimburse the Endy PTO for $3,500. The organization recently purchased and installed playground equipment.

A representative from the Endy PTO appeared before the facilities committee at an earlier date and made the request which was brought before the board Tuesday night by Board Member Grant Allen. The request had already been approved by the finance committee when it was brought to the board.

The Endy PTO raised over $11,000 for their playground equipment, and only requested a partial amount for reimbursement.
