Bear spotting in Albemarle

Tuesday, June 18, 2013 — A black bear was spotted at Rock Creek Park in Albemarle Tuesday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Deputy Kim Thompson, the bear crossed U.S. 52 South Business heading into the park at approximately 12 p.m.

“We were at the stoplight and it crossed the road in front of us,” Thompson said.

The North Carolina Wildelife Commission was notified.
