Stanly County Sheriff's Office releases name of Groves Street victim

Tuesday, May 14, 2013 — At approximately 11:30 Tuesday morning, the Stanly County Sheriff's Office released to the media the name of the victim found dead at 27589 Groves Street in Albemarle.

The report states that deputies responded to that address at approximately 7:20 p.m on Sunday evening and found that 27-year-old Jason Whitney Burleson was deceased.

Evidence found at the residence indicated that Burleson was a victim of a homicide.

According to Sheriff Rick Burris, the Stanly County Sheriff's Office "is still in the process of processing the scene" and that they "still have no solid leads" but are pursuing "persons of interest." The Sheriff's Office is working with agents of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations.

A cause of death is pending results of an autopsy.

The report also states that anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to contact the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 986-3714.
