Mother stabs son for assaulting stepfather in Norwood

Tuesday, June 10, 2014 — A mother stabbed her son when he assaulted his stepfather.

Benjamin Isenhour, 40, was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte Monday afternoon with stab wounds to his back, according to Norwood Police Chief Randy Smith.

A hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday that Isenhour is in fair condition.

Sandra Smith, 60, stabbed Isenhour with a knife when her son assaulted her husband, Smith said. It’s unclear at this time what started the dispute  between Isenhour and his stepfather.

The 3 p.m. domestic issue occurred at the 539 Wil-Kris Dr. residence the three share in Norwood, Smith said.

No charges have been filed.

The incident remains under investigation.

Last week I made my annual trip up the mountain to Sparta. My friends have a secluded home near a babbling brook. Their home and property are a haven for peace. It’s a two-plus hour ride to their home that doesn’t feel that long because I look so forward to my time with this great couple. When I arrive, the conversation seems to pick up right where we left it the last time we saw each other.
