Man found dead near Albemarle

SBI assisting with case

Monday, May 13, 2013 — Stanly County Sheriff Rick Burris said Monday morning that the sheriff's office is investigating a crime scene on Groves Avenue, just a few feet outside the city limits of Albemarle.

A white man was found in the basement of a house strapped to a chair with his hands duct taped, Burris said. The man was deceased upon law enforcement arriving.

The State Bureau of Investigation is coming to work the scene, Burris said.
