Stanly County 4-H sets holiday greenery sale

The holidays are approaching so make plans to get fresh holiday wreaths and greenery while supporting Stanly County 4-H.

The 4-H holiday greenery sale will continue to include fresh-cut 26-inch Fraser Fir wreaths, premium grade 5-6 ft., 6-7 ft. and 7-8 ft. Fraser Fir trees and 75 ft. rolls of White Pine garland.

All greenery is sprayed with Greenzit to seal the needles to retain moisture and softness longer, all of which will provide a fragrant and beautiful addition to any home or business over the holiday season. Orders will be taken until noon Nov. 19.

The beautiful and fragrant Fraser Fir wreaths are made from the bottom boughs of Fraser Fir Christmas trees. Boughs are pruned from the trees by hand while the trees are still standing in the field. The boughs are then attached to a wire ring with clamps. Each wreath is made by an individual, not a machine.

The greenery will be ready for pick-up at the Stanly County 4-H office at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 26,

To place orders call the Stanly County 4-H office at (704) 983-3987.

Cost: wreaths – $20 each; trees – 5-6 ft. $35 each; 6-7 ft. $45 each; 7-8 ft. $55 each and the 75 foot roll of garland will be $30/roll. Handmade bows are $10 each.

Information and the order form are on the local Extension website: stanly.ces.

Mail orders and payment to: Stanly County 4-H, 26032-E Newt Road, Albemarle, NC 28001. All orders must be received by  noon on Nov. 19.

Plan to attend a free workshop: Decorating Your Home for the Holidays from 3-5 p.m. Nov. 19, at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center and see great ideas about how to use the fresh greenery when it arrives. Call (704) 983-3987 to register for the workshop.

When you place an order with a 4-H club member, profits from sales make it possible for them to offset the cost of various 4-H programs such as: summer camp, educational summer programs, teen leadership conferences, and state level events and competitions.

4-H youth, adult volunteers and parents actively support this fundraising activity.

Stanly County 4-H is a United Way sponsored agency.
