Thursday, September 12, 2013 — On Aug. 28, an Albemarle Police officer responded to the Holiday Inn Express at 4:29 a.m., to a report of an armed robbery of the business by a white male and a black male.

When officers arrived the gunman and the second suspect had fled the scene.  Using the video from the lobby camera, officers were able to identify one of the suspects as Jonathan Mark Davis of 1421 Short St., Albemarle. After further investigation, it was determined that Vincent Jamal Miller was also responsible for the same robbery, according to Albemarle Police.

At 12:02 a.m. Sept. 2, while making a deposit at Uwharrie Bank the assistant manager of Pizza Hut, 701 US 52 N., Albemarle, was also robbed at gun point by a black male. The suspect was later identified as Miller, 808 Ruby St., Albemarle. Also responsible for this robbery was Davis, Albemarle Police said.

Miller and Davis have been charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.  Both are being held in the Stanly County Jail and have a court date of Sept. 16.
