Portion of Palestine Road closed due to water damage

Friday, July 5, 2012 — A portion of Palestine Road is closed due to water damage, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

NCDOT closed the portion of Palestine Road from the Northeast Connector to Kemp Road Friday afternoon due to water damage and road repair.

The closure comes after parts of Stanly County received more than eight inches of rain since the end of June. Several other roads were reported as having flooded Friday afternoon, including N.C. 73 near City Lake Park, and a portion of Lowder Road.

"The public should not try to drive around any road that is barricaded," said Jennifer Thompson, NCDOT communication officer.
