The driver of a passenger tanker truck was responsive after crashing into a convenient store along Hwy 200 south of Stanfield, according to an eyewitness.
Samantha Lambert, an employee at Piedmont Core & Recycling said that she saw the accident take place around noon, and was one of the first two people to respond to the driver whose truck appeared to be carrying some type of chemical.
Lambert said that after watching the truck crash directly into a storage area of the convenient store located at Oak Grove Road, she and another person helped bring the driver back to consciousness, even before emergency responders arrived on scene.
Besides the driver of the vehicle, no one at the scene appeared to be injured, although two others were in the store at the time of the accident, according to Lambert. Officials were keeping those that gathered at the scene distanced from the building in case of a collapse.
