Albemarle police officers responded shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday to the Dollar General at 739 N.C. Highway 24-27 Bypass East in Albemarle reference to an armed robbery. While in route to the store, a description was given out of the suspects — one a black male wearing a black hoodie with white letters on it and brown pants, the other suspect wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans, who was last seen running away from the store. According to the clerk, two black males entered the store just before closing and were hanging around the back of the store. When she saw one of subjects place a mask over his face, she exited the store and called 9-1-1. One of the two black males used a handgun against the second clerk in the store and demanded money from the register, police said. The suspects left the store on foot.
