Students from Stanly Community College recently completed Nurse Aide training in Level I and Level II.
The NA-I program, or beginning of the multi-skilled NA certificate program, is a 176-hour program that includes intensive lecture/lab, a clinical component and state exam preparation.
Students learn patient care skills used in long-term care facilities, hospitals and home care agencies.
Upon satisfactory completion of the NA-I program the graduate will receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to register for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) state exam. Upon passing the state exam, the candidate will be eligible to be listed on the North Carolina Nursing Assistant I Registry.
The NA-II is the next level of direct patient care and consists of lecture/lab, competency testing and clinical experience in the hospital setting. The NA-II program is 179-hours long.
The Nurse Aide Hybrid program is a 214.5-hour course consisting of online instruction, Friday on-campus skill competencies and Sunday clinical hours in a long-term care facility. This course provides students with knowledge in basic nursing skills to bring direct personal care to various healthcare settings.
Additionally, SCC offers the Nurse Aide programs to high school juniors and seniors through the College and Career Promise (CCP) program. Courses are tuition-free and some courses are offered online.
CCP students who recently completed their NA-II training include: Jessica Audley, Ashley Frey, Emily Howard, Gracy Howard, Sarah Lassiter, Nancy Lee, Trinity McClellan, Colby McCollum, Callie McGee, Melinda Callahan, Bethany Forrest, Gryeson Griffin, and Alaina Harrington.
Instructors were Jana Teal (RN) and Robin Rogers (RN).
