‘Fishin’ on the Yadkin’ coming up

Badin Library
“Libraries Rock!” headlines the Stanly County Pubic Library Summer Reading Program.
Today’s program at the Badin Library begins at 3:30 p.m. Come and find out how “Preparedness Rocks!”
The subject for June 21 is “Art Rocks!” and then on June 28, “Music Rocks!”
All of the libraries in the county offer the same programs on different days of the week, so patrons can go to the location and time most convenient.
A summer calendar is available at any library location.
Summer Reading Extravaganza on Monday begins at 10 a.m. at the Agri-Civic Center and features musical entertainers Big Bang Boom — a high-energy show of funky original music.
Admission is free and all are welcome.

Badin Library hours are Monday, 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and Thursday, 3-7 p.m.

Badin
UMC
The church will participate in Soul Food on June 25 at 5:30 p.m. at First Street United Methodist Church.
Soup, sandwiches and dessert are needed for sharing.
Please come and enjoy an opportunity to serve the greater community.
The church will host vacation Bible school July 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 18 Hickory St.
Families are invited for Bible study, arts and crafts, prizes, a free lunch and lots of fun getting to know neighbors.

Sunshine Club
The monthly meeting is June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Badin Baptist Church. A special program of music will be presented by harpist Pam Mott. A covered-dish luncheon will follow.
All are welcome for this time of fellowship and good food. Bring a dish to share and invite a friend. The group meets in the ground floor of Fellowship Hall at the church on Falls Road.

Morrow Mountain
Try “Fishin’ on the Yadkin” on June 23 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
The park is a NC Wildlife Tackle Loaner site and will furnish fishing poles, bait and educational activities. Only 12 poles are available so reservations are recommended.
Call 704-982-4402. Participants should meet at the Boathouse Parking Lot.
Movie Night is July 6 at 7 p.m. at the Morrow Mountain Lodge. Disney’s “Moana” will be shown and popcorn furnished. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets, water and arrive before the 7 p.m. start time.
Kids in Parks Day is July 7 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and offers games, a rain stick craft,and an opportunity to learn about the park’s Native American history.
Participants will also hike the Morrow Mountain loop (0.8 mile) and enjoy lunch together. Bring a bag lunch, water, bug spray and meet at Shelter A.

Badin Historic Museum
Badin’s three museums are great places for summertime visits.
Admission is free and Badin history includes such things as 10,000-year-old spear points, pictures from the “great flood,” fire-fighting equipment, aluminum production and a restored mill village quadraplex home.
Bring children and out-of-town guests on Tuesdays from 9 a.m.-noon or 1-3 p.m., or Sundays from 2-5 p.m. for an intriguing look into the past.
Museum volunteers are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Badin’s story which runs deep and wide. Cap off a visit with a walking tour of the town.
