Stanly County Schools announces staff changes

Less than a week after the final day of classes, many principals and administrators already find themselves preparing to head to new homes within the district for the next school year.
On Tuesday, Stanly County Schools confirmed the following individuals were either hired or reassigned from the corresponding location:
• Anne Watson is moving from North Stanly Middle to become director of middle schools at the Central Office;
• Laura Beacham joins SCS from Union County to become exceptional children’s director at the Central Office;
• Aquadale principal Devron Furr will become the new principal at Albemarle Middle School;
• Joy Hathcok is being moved from principal at North Stanly High to Aquadale Elementary, where she will have the same position;
• Randy Mann will become principal of North Stanly High, coming in from Iredell-Statesville Schools;
• Terri Crocker will leave South Stanly Middle to become principal at North Stanly Middle;
• Central Office employee Jency Speight will be the new principal at Norwood Elementary;
• Chris Jonassen has been chosen as principal for South Stanly Middle School, joining from Montgomery County;
• Laura Huneycutt, a part-time employee at Stanly Academy Learning Center and Stanly Early College, has been named assistant principal at Stanly Academy; and
• William Benson, former Albemarle High assistant principal, will join Stanly Academy as dean of students for the new middle school alternative program.
Start dates for these new roles begin July 1 with the beginning of the fiscal year.
