Atrium Health announced Thursday it is increasing its minimum wage to $12.50 per hour, ensuring Atrium Health is not just competitive among top large employers, but also industry-leading in the Charlotte region.
This increase from $11.50 per hour to $12.50 will take effect on July 22. In addition, teammates who are currently in the $12.50 per hour pay range will receive an increase to maintain pay differentiation. This represents an investment into the lives and families of more than 7,500 employees.
“Each and every one of our teammates is integral to ensuring our patients receive the very best,” says Gene Woods, president and CEO of Atrium Health.
Atrium owns CHS-Stanly.
“As we continue to work together to improve health, elevate hope and advance healing — for all, this increase represents our ongoing commitment to our team and supports the incredible work they do every single day,” Woods said.
Atrium Health reviews employee wages and benefits each year and makes adjustments to ensure it remains competitive and well positioned as the region’s most comprehensive healthcare provider.
Over the past seven years, Atrium Health has been on a journey to increase its minimum wage beyond the federal requirement to provide a more reasonable wage for all Atrium Health teammates. Since 2012, Atrium Health has increased its minimum wage by 72.4 percent — taking it from $7.25 per hour to the upcoming $12.50 per hour. The last increase was from $10 per hour to $11.50 per hour just last year.
“Atrium Health is proud to have one of the most dedicated teams in the region,” says Jim Dunn, chief human resources officer of Atrium Health. “Our teammates consistently go above and beyond for our patients and communities, and we believe this increase not only shows our commitment to our employees and their families, but also our gratitude for the remarkable work they do every single day.”
As one of this region’s largest employers, with more than 35,000 teammates in the Charlotte region, this increase not only supports Atrium Health teammates, but exemplifies Atrium Health’s commitment to improving economic growth and mobility in Charlotte and the surrounding region.
Atrium Health, previously Carolinas HealthCare System, one of the nation’s leading healthcare organizations, provides a spectrum of healthcare and wellness programs throughout the Southeast region.
