Valhalla has several local band members. They play a variety of music that is sure to be a hit.

This is a free and family friendly concert. Bring your chair or blanket and enjoy the night.

You can also participate in the blood drive with Community Blood Center. Your donation goes to help local people.

Farmers Market

The Locust Farmers Market will be open each Thursday from May through October from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market is across from Locust Elementary School, on the corner of Vella Drive and East Main Street (N.C. Highway 24-27). Make it your weekly trip for locally grown vegetables, berries, jams and homemade goods.

Locust Town Center Merchants are excited to plan an evening farmers market for Thursday evenings this summer. They will be open from 5-7 p.m. in Town Center (grassy lot across from ACE Hardware).

Locust Presbyterian

Come check out some of the changes at Locust Presbyterian Church. New worship hours will begin on Sunday. New worship time is 10 a.m., with Fellowship Hour to follow with activities and learning for all ages.

Fred Valfer will be guest speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall.

He was born in Miami Beach, Florida in 1959 to two holocaust survivors. He grew up in Minnesota and attended college at University of Wisconsin Stout. He has been married for almost 37 years.

Up until three years ago he lived in the Midwest, but he now calls Mint Hill home.

He states he enjoys telling his father’s story of survival during the Holocaust as he cannot do it so often being 93. He tells their story so people will not forget.

You are invited to join Locust Presbyterian for this special presentation. The church is on West Main Street in Locust.
