Little Miss contestants compete in pageant

Nearly 40 girls competed in the Little Miss Fourth of July pageant on June 30. The event was part of the 60th annual Oakboro Fourth of July celebration.
Emcee Wes Tucker said that 39 girls competed in nine categories.
Winners and first runners-up in two divisions, from left, are: Emory Stewart, first-runner up Petite Miss; Skylar Stiles, Petite Miss; Lexi Rushing, Youth Miss; Madison Roland, Miss Majestic; Autumn Allen, first runner-up Youth Miss; and Mariah Crossing, photogenic Petite Miss.
Paisley Kay Copple, 5 months old, was named Baby Miss in the category for 0 to 12-month-old girls. The first runner-up was Blakelyn Paige Deaton, 8 months old.
Wee Miss Brook Cherith Milano, 17 months, won in the 13-23-month category. McKynlee Jade Griffin, 15 months old, was the first runner-up.
Hailey Grace Shaw, 3, won in the Tiny Miss category for 2- to 3-year-olds. The first runner-up was Myla Addison Harwood, also 3.
Little Miss Lexi Gregor, 6, won in the category for girls ages 4 to 6. Kynlee Harris, 5, was the runner-up.
Petite Miss Skyler Isabella Stiles, 7, won in the age 7 to 10 category. The first runner-up was Emory Grace Ann Stewart, also 7.

In the Youth Miss category for 11- to 14-year-olds, Lexi Denise Rushing, 12, was the winner. Autumn Paige Allen, 12, was the first runner-up.
Some of the girls also competed for overall titles. While all were in the beauty competition, some chose to participate in the Majestic titles, which took the combined score of the competitors’ beauty category in addition to scores from the photogenic and portfolio categories to determine the winners.
Emma Grey Griffin, 3, was named Little Miss Majestic, competing against other girls ages birth to 6 years old.
Madison Victoria Rowland, 11, was this year’s Miss Majestic. She competed against other girls ages 7 to 16 years old.
Spirit Queen Kynlee Harris, 5, won after she sold the most raffle tickets. She sold more than 700, according to Tucker.
Raffle tickets were sold for $1 each, and proceeds will go to the Oakboro Fire Department.
The pageant was open to girls from birth to age 14. It has been held since 1990, according to Tucker.
