Church continues services at Lake Tillery

Throughout the summer, Randall United Methodist Church is holding special church services by the side of Lake Tillery.
These services take place every other Sunday, Memorial Day to Labor Day.
“This is our little summer project,” said the Rev. Caitlin McAlhaney. “We’ve never done this before, but we certainly are enjoying it.”
McAlhaney cites her own love of the river as one reason why the idea came about.
“Our goal is that if you live on the lake or love the lake like I do, you can go back out on the water by lunchtime and spend the rest of your Sunday out there.”
The church plans on having a variety of different services over the months.
On a recent Sunday the Rev. Broce Sowell of Barringer Chapel was guest speaker at the service. He is joined here by the Rev. Caitlin McAlhaney.
It recently invited the Rev. Broce Sowell of Barringer Chapel to give the message. On another Sunday there was a “blessing of the boats” where attendees could bring their boats, oars, sand buckets or kayaks to be blessed to protect from accidents on the water.
Randall United Methodist welcomes everyone interested to attend the services, even if they already have a church home.
Worship service begins at 9 a.m. and Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. on Paradise Lane in Norwood.
If needed, attendants can meet in the parking lot of Randall United Methodist and ride a golf cart to the lakeside worship location.
The remaining dates include July 22, Aug. 12, Aug. 26, and Sept. 2.
