Teens reunion moves location

Badin Library
Today’s story and craft time theme is “Rhythm Rocks!” and the program begins at 3:30 p.m. All children are welcome.
Badin Library hours are Monday, 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and Thursday, 3-7 p.m.

Teens Making A Difference

The community is invited to the 25th anniversary celebration of the organization Teens Making a Difference.
The festivities begin July 27 with a Fun Day at West Badin Park from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Reunion Banquet will be July 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 39289 Wright Road, New London. (Note new location for banquet.)
Deloris Chambers, Badin’s mayor pro-tem, founded the organization in 1993. Along with Valerie Tyson, Chambers has spent many years befriending young people, encouraging good character and inspiring another generation to make a difference.
A scholarship winner will be announced and supporters of the organization will be recognized.

Badin UMC
Pastor Beau Linker invites children and families to take part in VBS 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Badin UMC, 18 Hickory St.
“Ocean Exploration” is the theme for special activities, snacks, arts and crafts and Bible study. A prize table and a free lunch will be provided. Children should come in bathing suits and bring a towel.
The church is planning a Family Night of miniature golf and sweet treats at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at Chili Mama D’s, 1240 E. Main St. Everyone is welcome.
Soul Food community meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at 132 Church St. (the former Tabernacle UMC). Come for music, a message and a meal. Church members will provide soup, sandwiches and dessert.

Morrow Mountain
Movie Night is Aug. 4 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Morrow Mountain Lodge. Pixar’s “A Bug’s Life” will be the feature movie and popcorn will be furnished. Bring chairs, blankets and water to drink.
A tour of the Kron House is planned for 2-3 p.m. Aug. 12. This is one of the few opportunities to learn about this 19th century home which belonged to Dr. Francis Kron — one of the first Piedmont physicians.
An advanced wild raptors class for K-12 educators will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Lodge.

Badin Presbyterian
The congregation will host the monthly First Sunday Lunch on Aug. 5 immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service. The community is invited for this time of fellowship.
Everyone is also invited for communion, Bible study and prayer at 7 p.m. Aug. 15.

First Baptist Church
A special homecoming service is planned for 3 p.m. Aug. 5. Pastor Horatious Harris of New Birth Charlotte will speak at the service.
Revival services will continue at 7 p.m. Aug. 6-8 with guest speakers Pastor Michael Stovall, Pastor Lloyd Nivens and Bishop Ronald Carpenter. First Baptist Pastor Anthony Neal invites the community to come for worship and fellowship. The church is at 201 Wayne St.

Badin Business
Brush and limb pick-up is Aug. 7. Please have debris curbside before 8 a.m.
Better Badin, Inc. will hold the monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in Town Hall. Members and newcomers are welcome always.
Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 14 in Town Hall. Residents are always invited to visit the meeting.
Badin residents are also encouraged to take part in an online survey about the town. Please go to www.badin.org and respond to the questions about the needs of the community and the future of the town.

Sunshine Club
Remember this fellowship group meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month.
The next meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 28 in the Fellowship Hall of Badin Baptist Church on Falls Road.
A program is always followed by a luncheon so please bring a covered dish to share.
Visitors and new members are always welcome.
