Tonight

New London United Methodist Church and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church will have a joint vacation Bible school 6-8:15 p.m.
There will be classes for all children from age 3 through the sixth grade.
The theme for the VBS will be “Shipwrecked—Rescued by Jesus” at New London United Methodist Church, 206 S. Main St., New London.

Friday

Highland Baptist Church, 106 Highland Dr., New London, will have its vacation Bible school from 6-8 p.m. for ages 3 through 12th grade.
The theme is “Team Jesus” and it will include crafts, lessons, snacks and games.

Saturday

Porter and Randall United Methodist churches will have vacation Bible school from 9 a.m.-noon at Porter UMC, 40031 Porter Road, Norwood.
The theme is “Camping with Jesus,” so there will be lots of camping themed activities and crafts, as well as mission opportunities for children ranging from preschool to fifth grade.

Bethany United Methodist Church, 2411 U.S. Highway 52 North, will have its VBS “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus” 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for ages 3 through rising sixth-grade.

Union Chapel Methodist Church, U.S. Highway 52 Business South, near the Stanly County Fairgrounds, will have a community breakfast from 6:30-10 a.m.
The menu will be country ham, red-eye gravy, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, eggs, grits, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, toast, muffins, orange juice and coffee.

With Proverbs 226, Cyril Prabhu wants to steer kids away from prison and into college.
Prabhu will speak at Badin Baptist Church this Sunday in preparation for an event at Albemarle Correctional Facility on Aug. 11. The event on Aug. 11 is a “Forgive me Dear” program in which the children of inmates at the Albemarle Correctional Facility will meet with their parent for a special time of relationship building.
Badin Baptist Church Fellowship Hall will be utilized as a staging area for the children and caretakers and the children will be bused to the facility for the meeting.
Volunteers are needed to assist with this endeavor.

Living Waters Ministries, 308 N. Central Ave., Locust, will have vacation Bible school at 7 p.m.

Aug. 11

First United Methodist Church, 208 Pee Dee Ave., Norwood, will have a Back to School Bash in the church parking lot and fellowship hall from 9 a.m.-noon. There will be booths with many activities for children and parents from kindergarten to 8th grades.
All children will be given a free book bag with school supplies, there will be fire safety and study tips, free toothbrushes, free haircuts, yoga, free eye exams by the Lions Club, Teddy Bear Clinic, healthy meal recipes and samples, free snow cones and popcorn, Butterfly House, Pee Dee Electric safety, health info and more.

Aug. 12

Lumber River Ministries will present a concert of gospel music at Cottonville Baptist Church at 4888 Plank Road, Norwood, at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The Lumber River Quartet are a well known southern gospel ministry that travels and ministers all across the U.S. and Canada. Ronald, Glenn and Greg have appeared on TV, radio and are national recording artists.

A covered dish luncheon will follow at noon.
At 6 p.m., the Hatley Family Singers will perform.

Revival begins at 6 p.m. Sunday and is at 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

There will be special singing every night.
