The Rotary Club of Albemarle has announced it plans to award $5,000 in grants to support community projects.
In 2018 individual grants ranged in size from $400 to $1,060. Small grants will be awarded to local organizations that have proposed projects that will have a significant positive impact in the community.
The awards are for the calendar year 2019 and applications must be received by Oct. 1. Applicants must be nonprofit tax exempt or governmental organizations. Eligible organizations include 501c3 nonprofit organizations, governmental and educational institutions.
In determining where to invest, the club looks to partner with organizations working in one of the following theme areas of community enhancement:
• Education and literacy;
• Youth leadership;
• Critical social, health, and urgent care services;
• Community safety;
• Quality of life.
Areas not typically funded are capital campaign requests, duplication of existing programs or services by new organizations, endowment funds, general operating expenses, travel or conferences, projects that support political or religious views and sponsorships of fundraisers.
Rotary grant applications will be reviewed by the grant committee. The grant committee will recommend grant awards to the Club Board of Directors.
Applications will be scored based on the following:
• Albemarle and Stanly County needs;
• Impact on Albemarle and Stanly County;
• Opportunities for collaboration with other organizations;
• Ability to secure other funding;
• Potential for measurable outcomes/results.
