Mighty members of the Comet Nation,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to serve each of you as the new principal of North Stanly High School.

Since starting on July 1, I have been able to meet with many of the students, staff and parents. These conversations have left a lasting impression on me and how everyone has welcomed me with open arms. I believe this is going to be a fantastic year.

I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve in many roles over the last 20 years in education. I started my career as teacher assistant in the Exceptional Children’s department before becoming a teacher.

After teaching and coaching at the elementary and middle school levels, I was asked by my principal about moving into administration while at James Martin Middle School in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

It has been one of the most rewarding decisions I have made in my career. I have been able to gain invaluable experience from everywhere I have worked as an administrator.

I have served as an assistant principal in a small rural high school in Cherokee County with an average of 270 students to large urban middle and high schools with almost 1,800 and 3,000 students, respectively, in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

The last five years I have been in Iredell-Statesville Schools serving as an assistant principal at

South Iredell High School, an IB World School with a population of 1,700 students.

Speaking of IB or International Baccalaureate Programmes, we have started on our journey at NSHS to offer two of the programmes.

We will be offering the Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme. You can find more information for both of these programmes on our new school website.

This may be our newest, but is only one of many opportunities we will be offering our students that will build their educational foundation of academics, extracurriculars, and athletics.

The 2018-2019 school year is the start of North Stanly High School becoming the home of the premier academic, extracurricular and athletic experience for all students.
