The Pfeiffer University women’s soccer team used a big second half to erase a one goal deficit on their way to a 4-2 non-conference win over Southern Virginia on Wednesday afternoon at Lefko Field.

The Falcons struck first, going up 1-0 when Cayci Eaton found the back of the net after a one-on-one opportunity with the Knights keeper in the 33rd minute, a lead the Falcons would take into halftime.

Southern Virginia would knot the match at 1-1 shortly after the start of the second half when Jensen McCall knocked home a pass from Shayli Nakamoto in the 46th minute. Nakamoto later scored in the 52nd minute to grab the 2-1 lead for the Knights.

Southern Virginia would hold the lead until the 76th minute when Madeline Capel scored on a blast from 18 yards out to tie the match, 2-2. Less than three minutes later, Capel scored again, this time taking a cross from Allison Gonzalez and drilling it into the corner of the net giving Pfeiffer the 3-1 lead.

The Falcons would add another goal in the 81st minute, this time when Meredith Manson blasted a shot from 15 yards out to provide the 4-2 final.

The win improves Pfeiffer to 3-1 on the season while Southern Virginia slips to 2-3.
