Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 2, 2018) – The Pfeiffer University Department of Athletics mourns the loss of Falcon Hall of Famer Harold McManus.

McManus, a two-sport athlete with the Falcons, was a 1964 Pfeiffer graduate.  During his playing days, he was a four-year starter for the Falcon men’s basketball team, averaging 24.0 ppg. in 1964.  That same year, he surpassed the 1,000 career point mark.  Over his playing days on the hardwood, he averaged in double-figures all four seasons.

On the baseball diamond, McManus was also a four-year starter and captain.  In 1962, he was named all-conference, all-state and was the team most valuable player.

After his playing career, McManus enjoyed a very successful basketball coaching career, earning several coach of the year accolades in his 22 years at Byrnes High School, winning 3A state championships in 1979 and 1990.  He also was named the South Carolina Coach of the Year in 1976, 1979 and 1990 and served as athletic director at Byrnes from 1989-1995.
