The Miss Stanly County Pageant Association will host the annual Miss Stanly County and Miss Stanly County’s Outstanding Teen pageant at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center.

The 2019 Stanly County representatives will be crowned and begin their journey to the Miss North Carolina and Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen pageant.

“We are very excited about the upcoming pageant and crowning the successors for Megan Frick, Miss Stanly County 2018, and Mackenzie Page, Miss Stanly County’s Outstanding Teen 2018,” said Starla Whitley, executive director of the pageant. “These young ladies have represented us well and it is now time to pass the torch.”

Whitley has been a part of the Miss North Carolina/Miss America system for 28 years and noted that this past year has brought many changes.

“I want to assure everyone that our pageant system is truly all about the educational and leadership opportunities for these young women,” Whitley said. “There have been many changes, some wanted and some unwanted, but Stanly County will assure each and every participant that our system is focused on the well being of our representatives.”

One change that has been noted is the Miss North Carolina Outstanding Teen pageant will now be held separate from the Miss North Carolina pageant.

This event will be held in April in High Point, and the Miss North Carolina pageant will continue to be in June in Raleigh.

The Carolina Princess program is a mentoring program for young ladies 6 to 12 years. Each Carolina Princess is paired with a Miss or an Outstanding Teen contestant.

If their contestant wins the title, that young lady becomes Miss Stanly County Carolina Princess or Miss Stanly County’s Outstanding Teen Carolina Princess.

The remaining young ladies all carry the title Stanly County Carolina Princess and join forces as the support team for the 2019 year and make appearances and assist in fundraising events.

Tickets may be purchased from the contestants and will also be available at the door.

Miss Stanly contestants are Kate White, Elizabeth Watters, Karie Grace Shields and Lauren Egan.

Outstanding Teen contestants are Raeanna Eudy, Merci Bursell, Cassidy Stoltenberg and Chloe Castles.
