A Norwood man was critically injured when he overturned an ATV.

Jason Allen Tyson, 41, was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center – Charlotte following Monday night’s single-vehicle crash, according to trooper M.E. Taylor of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

As of Wednesday a hospital spokeswoman reported Tyson as in critical condition.

Tyson was riding an all terrain vehicle along Indian Mound Road at 7:14 p.m. when he lost control and flipped the ATV. Tyson was found lying in the middle of the road while the ATV was wrecked off the shoulder, Taylor said.

He was estimated to be traveling at about 45-50 mph at the time of the crash; however, the incident remains under investigation.
