West Stanly Senior Center
Every Friday the West Stanly Senior Center has Bingo from 6-10 p.m. Bingo is not just for seniors. It is open to anyone that likes to play.

Cinema Party
Locust City Cinema Party featuring “Dirty Dancing” will be Saturday.
This event will kick off the night with some live music from 6-7 p.m. This should give everyone time to grab a beer from Cabarrus Brewery and check out what Get Away Tours NC has to offer.
Then we will settle in with beer, pizza and funnel cakes to enjoy the feature film for the evening.
The Locust City Cinema Parties offer a date-night vibe, targeting a wider range of age-groups. The Cinema Party vendors include beer and wine and will feature blockbusters and classics (PG to R rated) popular among adults.

Time to Fall Back
This weekend is time to change your clocks on Saturday night before you go to bed. We will be turning them back one hour. Also this is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detector.

Basketball
Basketball registration is currently open.
Participants must register online at www.locustnc.siplay.com.
Registration closes Wednesday.
Volunteer coaches are needed.
If you are interested in coaching a team, kindergarten through fifth grade, boys or girls, let organizers know.
Coaches must also register online and complete a background check once assigned to a team.

Locust Christmas Parade
The city of Locust will host the Locust Christmas Parade at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 24.
The City of Locust Parks and Recreation Dept is seeking participants for the parade. A limited number of pre-decorated floats are available for a fee.
Home-designed floats, walking groups, golf carts, dancers, classic cars, trucks and trailers, etc. are welcome.
The parade route will begin at Carolina Presbyterian Church, head to N.C. Highway 24-27, then east, turning onto Ray Kennedy Drive and end at Locust City Hall in Town Center.
For entry information and to register, contact the Parks & Recreation Department coodinator Peyton Creswell at events@locustnc.com 704-840-8057 or Director of Parks & Recreation Emily Jones at 704-888-5260.
Santa and Mrs Claus will be on the City of Locust Float.

Leaf Collections
Over the next three months Locust will conduct curbside leaf collection for all residents within the city limits.
The dates will be as follows: Nov. 17, Dec. 22 and Jan. 26, 2019.
During this event, all leaves must be at curb/roadside and must only be leaves — no brush.
Please have your leaves accessible by 7 a.m. on the scheduled dates and crews will work to get all collected as quickly as possible.
In the past we’ve had delays caused by rainy weather. All involved will be working to provide the citizens of Locust the best service available.
If you have any questions, contact Tim Flieger at 704-888-5260 ext. 106 or tflieger@locustnc.com.
