Agencies accept funds from Stanly County Community Foundation

Stanly County Community Foundation honored grand recipients last month in a ceremony at Albemarle City Hall.
Grants committee chairman Art Rogers introduced each grantee and presented a certificate before allowing the individuals to give a comment.
“It is an honor to be part of this grants process and to learn about the important work taking place throughout Stanly County,” Rogers said. “Our nonprofit agencies are making a difference in our community and we are grateful for their efforts.”
Other members of the committee are Roge Brafford, Paul Childress, Roger Dick, Leon Frederick, Bill Grigg, David Grigg, Jerry Jordan, Colleen Keith, John Lowder, Judy Pierce, Chris Poplin, Marshall Rogers, Ed Shimpock and Mike Snyder.
“The committee dedicates significant time to reviewing each application received and I appreciate your commitment to this important process,” Rogers said.
In its history, Stanly County Community Foundation has awarded more than $520,000 to more than 54 organizations, supporting over 187 projects and programs in Stanly County.
The foundation award $65,220 across 18 organization.
Bridge to Recovery was awarded $3,000 to support transportation needs for its transitional house program in Stanly County.
Charlotte Symphony was awarded $2,500 for the free community concert it brought to Stanly County this fall.
Crisis Assistance Fund of Stanly County was awarded $3,000 for bedbug extermination services for families in need.
GHA Autism Supports was awarded $6,000 for the development of Morrow Valley Farmstead.
Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest Council was awarded $2,500 to support its G. I. R. L. program in Stanly County.
Homes of Hope, Inc. was awarded $5,000 for transitional housing home repair.
Live Again Ministries was awarded $2,500 for its T.R.I.B.E. program — Teaching Relationships in Behavior and Education.

Pfeiffer University was awarded $10,000 for a multi-day residential STEM camp for girls.
Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte was awarded $2,500 for housing costs for Stanly families to stay at the Charlotte Ronald McDonald House.
Special Olympics North Carolina was awarded $3,000 for Special Olympics Stanly County Sports Expansion.
Stanly Community Christian Ministry was awarded $5,000 for its Winter Warmth program.
Stanly Community College Foundation was awarded $5,000 to support its Agribusiness Technology Program.
Stanly County Family YMCA was awarded $5,000 for summer camp scholarships.
Stanly County Partnership for Children was awarded $3,000 for the Raising a Reader Program.
Stanly County Senior Services was awarded $1,300 for exercise equipment for senior fitness classes.
The Mary and Martha Center for Women and Community Care was awarded $1,920 for the Alphabet of Faith Project.
Henry Thomas was on of the individuals accepting funds on behalf of The Talent Company.
The Talent Company of Albemarle was awarded $2,500 to support its 2018-2019 season.
West Stanly Community Center Foundation was awarded $1,500 to update furnishings for improved health and well-being programs.
