Senior Center offers many activities

The Stanly County Senior Center submits the following information:

Veteran’s Club Breakfast: The last Tuesday of every month at 9 a.m. Upcoming dates are Tuesday and Dec. 18. Join for coffee and breakfast. Breakfast is sponsored by Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. All veterans of all branches are welcome.

Monthly Bingo: The last Monday of every month. Sponsored by Hospice. Bingo starts at 3 p.m. Please RSVP the week before.

Ladies Lunch Bunch: Meets the first Thursday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at local restaurants around Stanly County. The next meal will be Dec. 6 at Jalapeno’s Mexican Restaurant, 1416 US-52, Albemarle.

Supper Club: Join at 6 p.m. Dec. 14 as the club visits Yadkin Valley Restaurant, N.C. 740 at the corner of Hilco Sreet. RSVP by calling the Senior Center the Friday before.

Readers & Eaters Book Club: Meets the first Wednesday of every month at 10:30 a.m. Join this interactive book club that reads and discusses a variety of genres.

Reading in December: “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. This will be discussed on Jan. 2, 2019.

Medicare Open Enrollment: Do you or a loved one have a Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage Plan? If so, it’s time to review plans during Open Enrollment through Dec. 7. Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) can help compare plans and determine if a change is needed.

Dinner Theater: The West Stanly Players will present “Country Cruising for Murder” Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Stanly County Senior Center. Check your baggage and set sail for a sinuous night of secrets, scandals and seafaring scoundrels.

Dinner theater tickets are $25. Whole tables and half tables are also available for purchase.

New Games
Starting in December the center will have two new games starting. The first is a rummy-based card game called Phase 10. This game will start at 1 p.m. Dec. 4.

The second game is Mexican Train Dominos, starting at 1 p.m. Dec. 7.
