Marion E. Cooper

Marion E. Cooper (née Coward), affectionately known as “Munner,” age 88, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018, under the loving care of Hospice of the Golden Isles, located in Brunswick, GA.
Marion was born May 8, 1930 in Badin, NC to Della and Norman Coward.
A graduate of Badin High School and the Carolina Business School, she worked as a clerk-stenographer for the Stanly County PMA office.
During her time of employment, she was described as “a person of pleasing personality and innate friendliness.”
This is a sentiment that carried throughout her life and relationships. The epitome of compassion, love, and grace, she was devoted to her family and friends.
She maintained life-long connections over the years, enjoying long telephone calls and sending cards. More recently, she enjoyed volunteering on the menu planning committee and playing BINGO at Magnolia Manor Senior Living.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Karen Cooper of St. Simons Island, GA; granddaughters, Whitney (Stephen) Boda of Atlanta, GA and Braelinn (Jason) Gray of Senoia, GA; great-grandson, Cooper Boda; and great-granddaughters, Wyatt Boda and Oaklyn Gray.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Colon E. Cooper, and her siblings, Lamar Coward, Dorothy Huffman (née Coward), Jackie Cooper (née Coward), and Ruth Harris (née Coward), all natives of North Carolina.
The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Friday, November 30, 2018 at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care, 1835 Badin Road, Albemarle, NC. Funeral services will be held beginning 11am, Saturday, December 1, 2018, in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel of Albemarle. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle, NC.
