The Stanly County Chorale will combine voices with the North Stanly High School Chorus to present two concerts that will feature Christmas music composed and/or arranged by the popular English composer John Rutter.

The North Stanly Handbell Choir will also perform a variety of Christmas music. Aza Hudson is the musical director of all three groups, and Zoey Brouthers is the Chorale’s accompanist.

Aza Hudson, a North Stanly music educator, will direct Stanly County Chorale and North Stanly’s musical groups in a pair of Christmas concerts.

The 85-voice choir will open the concert with “The Star Spangled Banner,” followed by “Antiphonal Deck the Hall” by American composer Greg Gilpin.

Musical selections composed by John Rutter will include “Rejoice and be Merry,” “Candlelight Carol” and “Jesus Child.” Familiar Christmas carols arranged by Rutter will include “Joy To The World” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.”

Performances are scheduled for 4 p.m. Dec. 8 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Albemarle and 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at Badin Baptist Church on Falls Road in Badin.

In celebration of the Stanly County Chorale’s 50th anniversary, a reception will follow the concert at the Badin Baptist Church.
Admission to the concerts is free, and the public is invited to attend.

The 2018 Christmas concerts are sponsored, in part, by Uwharrie Bank. The chorale is also grateful for the continued support of The Stanly County Arts Council.

This project is supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources.
