James “Jimmy” Freeman

James “Jimmy” Freeman, 49, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 2, 2018.
Jimmy was born October 1, 1969 in Charlotte, NC, he is the son of Jeff and Mary Clontz Freeman of Charlotte.
Jimmy loved his family and loved all the things we did together, especially family reunions. He loved Duke Basketball, the Atlanta Braves and the Panthers. He graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1987. He is a member of Derita Baptist Church and loved gospel music. He loved his memories of living on Wilson Lane. He loved his Mama!
He was currently employed by Iron Mountain in Charlotte, NC and worked part-time as security at the Panther games. He was a volunteer fireman for 20 years.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his siblings, John Freeman and wife, Jane, Robin Owensby and husband, Jamie, Debbie Hutto and husband, Tim and Carol Burnette and husband, Rodney; an aunt and uncle, Linda and Jerry Helms and 10 nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Swindell Clontz and Georgie Clontz; and an aunt and uncle, Dora Jane and Willard Efird.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 pm Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at McEwen Funeral Service, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Derita Baptist Church, 2835 West Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262 with Pastors Steve Adams and Tom Daigle officiating.
Committal services and burial will take place in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
In lieu flowers, contributions in memory of Jimmy Freeman may be made to Derita Baptist Church.
