A big night from the starting center of the West Stanly men’s basketball team lifted the Colts to the team’s seventh straight win over South Stanly Tuesday night, 76-52.

Senior Hayden Greene was 13-of-18 from the field and led four in double figures for West (3-0) with 27 points. He made it a double-double with 17 rebounds along with four assists and three blocked shots.

Nick Parker returned to the lineup from injury and added 14 points for West while Austin Medlin scored 13. Trevor Kelly also reached double figures with 12 points, adding seven rebound and six assists.

Jacorian LeGrand was the top scorer for South (1-2) with 20 points.

With the win, West has won 19 of the last 23 matchups with South dating back to 2007.

“Hayden was tremendous tonight and we did a great job of looking for him,” West head coach John Thompson said. “I knew at halftime South would make a run but we weathered that and got a little roll offensively.”

The Colts continue non-conference play with back-to-back home games starting Thursday against North Stanly (1-o). West hosts East Rowan on Friday.

South returns to Yadkin Valley Conference play Friday at home against West Montgomery.
