Carolyn Love Crayton, 70, of Stanfield passed away peacefully on December 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Crayton was born on August 20, 1948 to the late Lee Roy Love and Ada Lee Baucom Love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Douglas Jay Crayton, who was no doubt waiting for her at Heaven’s gate.
Carolyn was a lady who wore many hats over the years, many simultaneously. Carolyn and her husband, Douglas, both put themselves through college while working full time, raising their daughters and remodeling their home. Always finding time to make it to softball games, basketball games, dance class and girl scouts for their girls.
They made an unbeatable team together and heaven will surely be a brighter place with them both there.
Carolyn graduated from Stanly Community College with a double major in Business Administration and Accounting. She went on to teach the Accounting Course at the college for several years while getting her accounting business, Crayton’s Bookkeeping & Tax Service, off the ground — at one point running two sites for Crayton’s Bookkeeping and a grocery store, Doug’s Food Center, she and her husband owned.
All the while the pair continued to support their local volunteer fire department, Carolyn as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Douglas as a volunteer fireman.
Carolyn was an amazing cook and loved to garden. She loved her family, her church, her community, and all the people in it.
Although one of the busiest ladies you would ever meet, she always made time to listen, give advise or lend a hand.
She was co-founder of Fun-N-Learning Daycare Center where she positively influenced multiple generations of children.
God blessed her with an abundance of mothering instinct; she was a blessing to all who knew her. She touched the lives of countless people over the years.
Survivors include daughters, Crystal Wages and husband, Kenneth, and Leesa Fuller and husband, Patrick of Stanfield; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:45p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Mission Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday officiated by Rev. Jeremy Hyde and Rev. Jim White. Burial will follow at the Mission Baptist Church Cemetery at 12444 Mission Church Road, Locust.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Stanly County for their loving care.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N 1st St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
