North men win easily at home over South Davidson

Bouncing back 24 hours after losing to West Stanly, the North Stanly men’s basketball team scored the first 22 points Friday night and never looked back in a 75-28 Yadkin Valley Conference home win.

Bryson Childress connected eight times from the 3-point arc and was 8-of-9 at the free-throw line for the Comets (2-1, 2-0 YVC), leading North with 38 points. All nine players scored in the game for the hosts.

The Comets outscored the Wildcats by 30 points in the first quarter, starting with a 22-0 run and ending the period on a 12-2 run.

For North, Friday’s win was the 16th straight regular-season conference win for the Comets dating back to last season. Both of North’s wins this season have been with margins of more than 40 points.

South Davidson remained winless on the season with the loss, dropping to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in YVC play. Jacob Byerly led the Wildcats with eight points while Dayton Adkins added seven.

North steps out of conference play Wednesday for a road game at East Rowan (3-1). The Mustangs beat West Stanly on Friday.
