The West Stanly men’s basketball win streak to start the season ended Friday night in a 53-46 home non-conference loss to the East Rowan Mustangs (3-1).

Nick Parker scored 14 of his team-high 21 points for West (4-1) in the second half, including seven points in the fourth period.

Hayden Greene reached double figures for the Colts for the fifth time this season, scoring 12 in the loss.

East Rowan center Elton Hooper led the Mustangs and all scorers with 23.

The Colts kept the game close until a late Mustangs run led to the loss. Greene also fouled out with four minutes left in the game.

“We didn’t share the ball as well as we did the last two games,” West head coach John Thompson said. “Hayden fouling out was tough, but we need to be able to overcome those types of things.”

West is scheduled to host Piedmont on Wednesday.

Sports Editor’s Note: In the women’s basketball game, West lost to East Rowan, 55-32. More stats and information will be published when made available.
