Pfeiffer men fall on the road at Averett

The visiting Pfeiffer University Falcons could not recover from a slow start and dropped a 94-77 USA South road game at Averett at the Grant Center on Tuesday afternoon.
The home standing Cougars had four players score in double-digits as they built a 54-36 lead at halftime.
The Averett lead would be as big as 27 points (76-49) at the 11:54 mark of the second half.
The Falcons would get no closer than 15 points (92-77) the rest of the way, falling 94-77.
Pfeiffer shot 41.7 percent from the field (25-of-60) and 11-of-33 (33.3 percent from beyond the arc in the loss.
Guard Gabe Miller (Goose Creek, S.C.) had a game-high 22 points off the bench, going 7-of-10 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from 3-point range.
Josiah Avington (Fredericksburg, Va.) finished with 14 points, hitting four from long range in the loss.
Averett got 18 points from Timothy Henry while Vince Conreras had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Teammates Montre’ Cash and Jalen Burnett each had 14 points in the win, improving the Cougars to 2-7 overall and 2-1 in USA South games.
Pfeiffer drops to 4-3 on the year and 0-2 in league play.
The Falcons will return to action this weekend at the Black Tie Classic in Birmingham, Ala.
Pfeiffer takes on Wesley College on Friday and will take on host Birmingham Southern on Saturday in their last two games before the holiday break.
