Gray Stone women win at home over Uwharrie Charter, 46-30

In a Yadkin Valley Conference matchup Friday night, the Gray Stone women’s basketball team improved to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference with a 46-35 home win over the Uwharrie Charter Eagles.

Danielle Werts led the Knights with 10 points while Mattie Burris and Secorra Medley each added nine.

Mia Leonard reached double figures for the Eagles (6-10, 2-6) and led all scorers with 12, including 10 in the second half.

The Knights got out to a fast start, outscoring Uwharrie by 11 in the opening quarter and limited the Eagles to three points in the third period.

With the win, Gray Stone is in a tie for second with North Rowan, two games behind Albemarle for first place in the YVC standings.

Gray Stone continues conference play Friday at North Moore (9-4, 4-2).
