South men bounce back with home win over North Moore

After losing in the final minute Thursday night to West Stanly, the South Stanly men’s basketball team returned to conference play Friday with an 78-50 home win over North Moore.

Jacorian Legrand led three in double figures in points for The Bulls (8-7, 6-1) with 25 points including 20 in the second half. Jaquez Cooke added 20 for South including 12 in a 29-point third quarter for the hosts, and Duncan McSwain added 13 including 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in the fourth period.

Edward Johnson paced the Mustangs (0-14, 0-7) with 12 points and Gage Pennington added 10.

The win keeps South Stanly a game behind North Rowan for first place in the YVC standings; the Bulls are tied with Albemarle for second place.

South goes on the road Friday for a YVC matchup at West Montgomery.
