N.C. Department of Transportation crews have closed the bridge on N.C. Highway 742 over Rocky River south of Oakboro. A routine inspection Monday morning revealed a crack in the substructure that needs to be repaired.

The bridge is expected to be closed up to a month so crews can make the repairs.

A detour in place for motorists uses N.C. Highway 742, Old Sandbar Road, N.C. Highway 205, N.C. Highway 218, Fish Road, St. Timothy Road and Benton Edwards Road, returning to N.C. 742.
